The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medi-
cine: Research Associate Programs
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Fellowships Office has conducted the NRC Research
Associateship Programs in cooperation with sponsoring federal laboratories and other research organizations approved
for participation since 1954. Through national competitions, the Fellowships Office recommends and makes NRC
Research Associateship awards to outstanding postdoctoral
and senior scientists and engineers for tenure as guest researchers at participating laboratories. A limited number of
opportunities are available for support of graduate students
in select fields.

Awards and Service
WCC/Eli Lilly Travel Award
The ACS Women Chemists Committee (WCC) and Eli Lilly
and Company co-sponsor funding to assist female chemists
with the cost of traveling to meetings where they present their
research. Female undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral
chemists are eligible to apply.
Benefits: Awards are made on the basis of scientific merit and
financial need. Funds may be applied only for registration,
travel, and accommodations, and are restricted to travel to
meetings within the United States.

January 1 and June 30
CIBA/YCC Young Scientist Travel Award
The CIBA Foundation and YCC offer this award to scientists
under the age of 35 who hold postdoctoral appointments or
have started their careers within the past 7 years. Awardees
receive financial support toward travel, registration, and accommodations for a national or regional ACS meeting.
