Stanley C. Israel Regional Award for Advancing
Diversity in the Chemical Sciences
The Stanley C. Israel Regional Award recognizes individuals
and/or institutions who have advanced diversity in the chemical sciences and significantly stimulated or fostered activities
that promote inclusiveness within the region.
Award: The award consists of a medal and a $1,000 grant to
support and further the activities for which the award was
made. The award also will include funding to cover the recipient’s travel expenses to the ACS Regional Meeting at which
the award will be presented.

Humboldt Research Fellowship for
Submit an application if you are a researcher from abroad
with above-average qualifications, at the beginning of your academic career, and only completed your doctorate in the last
four years. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral
researchers allows you to carry out long-term research (6–24
months) in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of
research and their academic host.

AAUW American Fellowships
AAUW American Fellowships support women scholars who
are completing dissertations, planning research leave from
accredited institutions, or preparing research for publication.
AAUW evaluates candidates on the basis of scholarly excellence, the quality and originality of the project design, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service
in their community, professions, or fields of research.
Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent

ACS Award for Creative Invention
To recognize a single inventor for the successful application of
research in chemistry and/or chemical engineering that contributes to the material prosperity and happiness of people.
Award: $5,000 and a certificate, plus up to $1,000 for travel
expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented
Who: A patent must have been granted for the work to be
recognized, with the nominee listed as an inventor, and it will
have been developed during the 17 years ending
January 1, 2017.

Environmental Chemistry Graduate
This award recognizes graduate students who are working in
areas related to environmental chemistry. The award is based
on student transcripts and record of research productivity and
a letter of recommendation from the faculty adviser.
Award: One year membership in the Division, a cash award,
and awardees will be publicized in Environmental Science and
Technology and EnvirofACS; up to 20 awards will be made.
Who: All full-time graduate students (M.S. or Ph.D. candidates) currently enrolled in a U.S. educational institution in
chemistry, environmental engineering, or other programs emphasizing environmental chemistry, who have completed one
full year of graduate study at their current institution.

C. Ellen Gonter Environmental Chemistry Awards
The Division of Environmental Chemistry is sponsoring
graduate student research paper awards judged on the basis of
research and writing quality. Only those students who present
their papers will receive the $1,000 cash award.
Award: $1,000, and one-year membership in the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry, presented at the Fall ACS
